Where PVLinkTech Connectors Fit in Your Automation System

Every sensor, actuator, drive and network drop in an automation line ends at a connector, and most of those connectors sit where oil, coolant or vibration are normal. This is where industrial automation connectivity solutions earn their keep: the table below lists the typical connection points and the series we make for each.

Industrial Automation Connectivity Solutions by Application

Factory Automation — Conveyors, Packaging, CNC

Conveyor sections, packaging machines and CNC cells run long duty cycles with cables flexing and connectors cycled repeatedly at changeovers. The LP Series snap-on connectors lock audibly on insertion, so operators get a positive confirmation without torque tools. Mixed inserts (2+3, 3+4) carry power and signal in one connector, which shortens cabinet wiring and cuts the number of feed-throughs in the control panel. Rated to 600 V with 4,000 V dielectric strength, the LP20 and LP24 cover 24 V I/O and 230 V motor circuits, so one connector family handles most of the panel. These industrial automation connectivity solutions are standard stock, so a panel build does not have to wait on custom tooling.

Robotics — Tooling and End-of-Arm Connections

Tool changers and end-of-arm tooling get knocked, dragged and mated hundreds of times a day. The SF Series push-in quick-lock connectors are machined in metal and lock with a push, so a tool change takes one hand instead of a screwdriver. Where the wrist or gripper leaves no room for a large shell, the self-locking series fits 2–6 pin connections in a compact PA66 housing, non-magnetic and rated −40 °C to +105 °C.

Washdown Environments — Food & Beverage, Pharma, Process

High-pressure cleaning is what kills a standard connector first. The IP68 unibody junction boxes (M2068 series, 450 V / 40 A) and the IP68 threaded series are built to take hose-down cleaning, and the EU-USB and ER-RJ45 data connectors seal HMI panels and field Ethernet drops the same way. Materials are RoHS compliant; the factory runs ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 systems.

Outdoor and Remote Stations — AGVs, Gateways, Charging Points

AGVs, outdoor gateways and charging stations live outside the climate-controlled factory. The SP Series threaded connectors use corrosion-resistant plastic housings with IP68 sealing, sized for vibration and outdoor exposure. The quick-connect P-Series wires conductors from 0.5 to 2.5 mm² (up to 16 A) without tools, which helps maintenance crews replace a damaged drop on site.

What Makes Connections Reliable in Industrial Automation

Loose and corroded connections show up in every cabinet after a fault, and most of them are preventable. Three factors decide whether a connection holds up:

  • Sealing. IP67 keeps dust and water jets out; IP68 covers immersion. In washdown areas, an IP67 part that was fine in the control room will fail in the second year — specify the rating for the mounting location, not the product class.
  • Contact quality. Gold or silver plating and consistent contact pressure keep contact resistance low, which prevents hot spots that degrade insulation over time. Our contacts are rated for 1,900+ mating cycles.
  • Mechanical locking. Threaded, snap-on and push-in locks each have a place. Threaded resists vibration but costs time at every disconnect; snap-on and push-in trade some vibration margin for fast tool changes — choose by cycle frequency, not habit.

If these three factors are settled at the drawing stage, the industrial automation connectivity solutions you pick will still be working years later.

What to Check When Specifying Connectors

  • Ethernet cabling. For Profinet, use the protocol’s cabling guidelines and specify shielded connectors for noisy motor environments. The ER-RJ45 series is available in threaded and snap-on versions to match the drop style. Protocol references: profinet.comodva.org (EtherNet/IP), io-link.com.
  • Temperature range. Standard automation parts hold −40 °C to +85 °C; the self-locking series extends to +105 °C for servo and motor-adjacent mounting.
  • Vibration and locking. High-cycle tooling points should use push-in or snap-on locks; fixed, high-vibration points are better served by threaded SP or LP configurations.
  • Keying and polarity. Mixed inserts and optional keying prevent wrong mating at the panel, which matters when the same connector family appears at several points on one machine.
  • Cable strain relief. All series support custom cable glands and strain relief to match jacket diameters from Φ4 mm to Φ25 mm.

Custom OEM Support from a Chinese Industrial Automation Connector Manufacturer

Most automation projects need something slightly off the standard catalog: a mixed pin insert, a color-coded housing, a stainless steel shell, or a specific wire range. Custom industrial automation connectivity solutions like these are the core of the business. Custom connector manufacturing comes with 3-day prototypes, 20-day tooling for new molds, and OEM/ODM support including cable assemblies. The Shenzhen factory runs 100+ production machines on 6,300 m², with 50+ automated lines and 10,000+ customers served since 2015.

  • Mixed inserts: 3+2, 2+6, 2+7, 2+1+5 and other combinations
  • Housing options: PA66, stainless steel, metal, color customization
  • Termination: soldering, screw-lock, quick wiring, crimp
  • Certifications on site: UL, cUL, TÜV, CE, UKCA, SAA, RoHS; IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001

FAQ

What IP rating do connectors need for industrial automation?

IP67 is the practical minimum for machine-mounted connections in normal factory air. If the connector is inside a washdown zone, outdoors, or exposed to hose-down cleaning, specify IP68 — the M2068 boxes, SP, self-locking and quick-connect series all meet IP68, and LP Series can be customized to IP68 (1 m / 2 h).

Can PVLinkTech make custom Profinet or EtherNet/IP cables and connectors?

Yes. The ER-RJ45 series covers field-attachable and factory-terminated RJ45 drops, and we build custom cable assemblies with shielding, strain relief and any length to match your network segment.

Do you provide prototypes before production?

Standard prototypes ship in 3 days. For new molds, tooling takes about 20 days before sampling. We ask for a drawing or a sample connector to quote precisely.

What is your minimum order quantity?

MOQ depends on the series and configuration — standard catalog parts can be ordered in low volumes, while custom inserts and cable assemblies are quoted per project. Send your specification for a clear number.

Are these connectors vibration-rated for robotic applications?

The SF Series push-in quick-lock connectors are built for impact-prone tooling, and all series use locking mechanisms that hold under vibration per our internal cyclic testing. Tell us your vibration profile and we will confirm the right series and locking method.
